Love Bouquet: Rose-Infused Rosé ft. Here With You Elixir

Love Bouquet with Here with you tincture.jpg

It’s Libra season and ~love~ is in the air. As a Libra Sun (my birthday is coming up, wink wink), October has already had me focusing more on re-evaluating relationships— with my communities, family, friends, lovers… but ultimately, myself. Relationships can bring much love and joy. Yet, it also can bring fear, pain, grief, loss, anger, and insecurity around being vulnerable. What a tricky thing to figure out, how to live in harmony with one another, both interpersonally and collectively!

Well, a lot of this relational work starts within. Do you know what you want? Are you clear about your expectations, and how that matches up (or not) to someone else’s? If it doesn’t, how do you negotiate that and find a common ground that honors all involved, without compromising oneself?

Are you bringing relational fears and grief from your past into your current relationships? What needs to be seen to be healed?

Are your relationships supporting you in being your best self? Or are you using relationships as a crutch for fear of being alone?

How does your heart really feel?

Relationships are a great way to learn about oneself and grow. Bringing kindness and compassion to oneself throughout this journey is crucial! Here with You Heart Elixir has been of great support for me in this in the past few years. The lines from Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone,” “You are not alone, I am here with you” came to mind as I first formulated this heart elixir.

I crafted this Love Bouquet herbal cocktail (which can be a mocktail too), in the spirit of celebrating love and compassion towards oneself, with the intention that this extends outwards to all whom you reach.

In order words, have your healing and make it sweet and fun!

Try it out and let me know what you think. Much love and air hugs to you.

Makes one serving

2 oz rose infusion

1.5 oz double-infused rose syrup

.5 oz lemon juice

3 droppers Here With You Heart Elixir

2 oz rosé (or substitute with sparkling water)

Rose Infusion

  1. Steep 1 part dried rose to 2 parts boiling water for 40+ min. The rose should be about half the volume of the water (e.g. ½ cup dried rose and 1 cup of boiling water). You can scale it as you need, depending on how many drinks you plan to make.

  2. Strain and let cool. If you are making this in advance, store it in the refrigerator and use within 1-2 days.

Double-Infused Rose Syrup

  1. Steep 1 part dried rose to 2 parts boiling water. To make it really strong, steep it for 2+ hr or overnight. You can scale it as you need, depending on how many drinks you plan to make.

  2. Strain out the rose. Measure the volume of the remaining rose infusion. Add an equal volume of sugar to the infusion.

  3. Warm up the infusion and sugar mixture over low heat, stirring until the sugar completely melts. You can do this over the stove for about 3-5 minutes, or by microwaving it at 30 second intervals and stirring in between. Turn off or remove from heat when done. The syrup should be somewhat hot to the touch.

  4. Immediately add dried rose petals to the warmed syrup until it covers about a quarter of the volume of the syrup. Stir to incorporate and let it steep for 20-40+ min.

  5. Strain out the rose and store the syrup in a clean container.

  6. Store in the refrigerator to extend shelf life between use. Use within 1-2 months.

Cocktail: Putting It Together

  1. Make the rose infusion and double-infused rose syrup. These can be made in advance and in bulk to make more than one serving. Store them in the refrigerator until you are ready to make the cocktail.

  2. Add the Here With You Heart Elixir, double-infused rose syrup, lemon juice, and rose infusion into a cocktail shaker. (For a mocktail version, exclude the elixir.)

  3. Add ice and shake until the outside of the shaker turns cold.

  4. Strain the mixture into a wine glass filled halfway with crushed ice.

  5. Top with 2oz of rosé. Add more to taste, if desired. (For a mocktail version, use sparkling water.)

  6. Give it a stir and serve!
